Grand Vert - Leonding organic green asparagus
Grand Vert - Leonding green asparagus
Unlike ordinary white asparagus, the "grand green" asparagus thrives on the earth's surface in air and plenty of sun.
In its raw state, it tastes similar to sugar snap peas; it is not only exceptionally tender and never woody, but also rich in minerals and vitamins.
Our green asparagus has a distinctive character and an exceptional aroma. It is favored by gourmets for its delicate and mild flavor, its top quality, and its specially selected assortment.
Over the past few years, we have learned to effectively combine the best and most proven methods of the past with today's knowledge and technology. The secret to the exceptional quality of Grand Vert – Leonding green asparagus, its mildness and tenderness – lies in the meticulous care of each individual asparagus plant and state-of-the-art, gentle processing.
The duration of the asparagus season
One of the most frequently asked questions from our customers concerns the start and end of the harvest season. As farmers working with nature, we are naturally dependent on it.
As a general rule, the asparagus season begins when the soil temperature reaches 12 degrees Celsius. This temperature is needed at a depth of approximately 15 cm. A good comparison is the water temperature of the Danube River. If it reaches 12 degrees, then asparagus is also available at Nussböckgut.
The farmer sets the end of the season himself, and it depends on the start of the season. The traditional date for this is June 24th.
